The 24 Barefoot Songs for voice and piano (1943—45) are Pettersson’s settings of his own poems, and as such form a singularly profound portrait of the composer. Their importance can be measured by the fact that Pettersson throughout his life returned to themes from the collection, reusing them in his large-scale works. It was Doráti who suggested the orchestration of eight of the songs, a task with which he was entrusted by the composer. The two concertos for strings were composed in 1950 and 1956 respectively, and already ……

Songs You Know by Heart: Jimmy Buffett's Greatest Hit(s) is the first greatest hits compilation by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. It was released in January 1985 as MCA 5633. The parenthetical "s" in the subtitle alludes to the status at the time of "Margaritaville" as Buffett's single large chart hit. Despite its 1985 release date, the album only includes songs from 1973 to 1979. Aside from 1976's Havaña Daydreamin', this compilation includes at least one song from every album released between 1973 and 1979. It includes all of "The Big 8" songs that Buffett has played at almost all of his concerts.

It focuses on music from the 1950's and early 1960's, aimed at the period in the store's history where they expanded their business to many more cities across the nation of United States. Some of the first Walgreen's stores featured soda fountains, where customers could walk in and sit to enjoy a soft drink or milk shake beverage.

Far and away the prettiest record Jethro Tull released at least since Thick as a Brick and a special treat for anyone with a fondness for the group's more folk-oriented material. Ian Anderson had moved to the countryside sometime earlier, and it showed in his choice of source material…

Bob Drake had set the bar pretty high with his third solo album, the admirable Skull Mailbox (And Other Horrors). So it should not come as a surprise that 13 Songs and a Thing feels somewhat weaker, yet still makes a damn fine record of avant-garde progressive rock (or experimental rock or crack-pot rock songs from beyond the grave, whatever suits you better).

That's because the big commercial radio stations use expensive equipment that ensures that all songs sound the same, and that they sound good on a wide range of cheap up to expensive audio systems. Now Stereo Tool offers you similar processing, which you can use while listening to your own music.

In her eclectic fourth album, Bett Butler mixes originals with beloved holiday standards in multiple languages, many with her own English translations. Her bouncy bossa nova “Are You Alone for Christmas Day” recalls Astrid Gilberto and Stan Getz, with an elegant sax solo by Rene Saenz; and in “No Place Like Home for Christmas,” also featuring Saenz, Coltrane meets Clooney (Rosemary, not George). “Pat-a-Pan” veers firmly into Klezmer territory, and Butler’s four-octave range becomes a boys’ choir on “Gesu Bambino.” “O Holy Night” and “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella” blend classical and jazz in intimate, lively chamber ensembles.
