Swedish extreme tech-metal pioneers MESHUGGAH will release their eighth album, "The Violent Sleep Of Reason", on October 7 via Nuclear Blast. The effort was inspired by a Goya painting called "The Sleep Of Reason Produces Monsters". "The Violent Sleep Of Reason" was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark. For the cover, the band once again enlisted Keerych Luminokaya who created the artwork for "Koloss" and "The Ophidian Trek" as well as the new images for each of the seven albums and three EPs featured in the "25 Years Of Musical Deviance" box set.
Meshuggah is a Swedish extreme metal band from Umeå, formed in 1987. Meshuggah's line-up has primarily consisted of founding members vocalist Jens Kidman and lead guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, drummer Tomas Haake, who joined in 1990, and rhythm guitarist Mårten Hagström, who joined in 1992. The band has gone through a number of bassists, with the position currently being held by Dick Lövgren since 2004.Meshuggah first attracted international attention with the 1995 release Destroy Erase Improve for its fusion of fast-tempo death metal, thrash metal and progressive metal with jazz fusion elements. Since its 2002 album Nothing, Meshuggah has used downtuned eight-string guitars. Meshuggah has become known for their innovative musical style, complex, polymetered song structures and polyrhythms. Meshuggah was labeled as one of the ten most important hard rock and heavy metal bands by Rolling Stone and as the most important band in metal by Alternative Press. Meshuggah has found little mainstream success as yet, but is a significant act in extreme underground music.
Meshuggah give you their first ever official live DVD/CD. They are one of the most dynamic and innovative bands in the history of Heavy Metal! The tracks were recorded live throughout the world on their 2008 world tour for the monster album obZen.
Superb debut from these rising stars of Swedish metal. Take the brutality of Meshuggah and blend it with the progressive style of Queensrÿche and you have Lack Of Faith. There is certainly no lack of the Heavy Metal faith in LACK OF FAITH's monstrously riff heavy Metallic attack. Huge swathes of SABBATH-esque Doom pulsate from each track especially on offerings like "Nothing" whereas new influences from bands such as KILLSWITCH ENGAGE appear on "Suffocate" and "I". Vocally Ronny Hemlin trades between Dickinson, Halford and Dio, just check out his powerhouse wail on the brutally excellent "Suffocate" for early Dickinson.
Metal For The Masses has a collection of modern metal masterpieces. It's a great mix of Swedish/European bands as well as many great American bands. This album is definitely a must for metal newbies. It gives you a great selection of the various bands going on. Arch Enemy, In Flames, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, Soilwork, Shadows Fall…and many others. If you like metal, this is an excellent choice to add to your collection.

Greek/Swedish melodic death metallers NIGHTRAGE will release their sixth studio album, "The Puritan", on April 24 via Despotz Records. We feel that with this album we manage to combine the death metal ferocity with ethereal melodies and great hooks all in one nice metal amalgam.""The Puritan" — described in a press release as "an uncompromising, eerie, dramatic and melodic death metal journey in its purest essence" — welcomes new NIGHTRAGE vocalist Ronnie Nyman to the mix. Nyman joins Iliopoulos and bassist Anders Hammer after performing with the band last year on its Japanese and Russian tours."The Puritan" was produced by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, DEVIN TOWNSEND, SOILWORK) and George Nerantzis at Dugout Productions in Uppsala, Sweden.
