Now they are being shown to help treat pain, depression and even alleviate some of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Horizon explores why they work, and how we could all benefit from the hidden power of the placebo.

Their eponymous third album is glossy, elaborate Benelux Jazz-Rock which could be labeled Library music as well – having themes that could easily accompany a cult 70's detective series. Its seductive rhythms, combined with tasteful arrangements, make this album difficult to walk away from. This Japanese CD pressing, reissue by P-Vine Records, released in 2011.

Marc Moulin was one of Belgium's jazz legends, his Placebo albums being the 'Holy Grail' for his funs. Placebo's debut LP Ball of Eyes is a remarkably focused Soul Jazz record, without the experimentation or Free Jazz moments which were still in vogue during the first half of the '70s. This Japanese CD pressing, reissue by P-Vine Records, released in 2011. Excellent compelling renditions of Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" and Sam & Dave's "You Got Me Hummin'" as well as his own compositions make Ball Of Eyes a perfect example of the genius of Marc Moulin and his incredible band.

On the 19th of August, Placebo performed a unique one-off show for MTV Unplugged at the London Studios in the UK. Here we present the results of this incredible show. The band were encased in spectacular LED box during the performance, from where they belted out some of their most well-loved tracks such as 'The Bitter End' and 'Every You Every Me.' Some new gems were dropped in for good measure, alongside surprise guests Joan As Police Woman and Majke Voss Romme (Broken Twin). No Placebo show would be complete without some signature cover versions and this set did not disappoint, from the breath-taking opener to the show- Sinead O'Connors 'Jackie' to a melancholy version of Pixies 'Where Is My Mind'
