The Frigate Diana (Anatomy of the Ship) By David White
English | Conway Maritime Press (2003) | ISBN-10: 0851779670 | 120 pages | ُPDF | 46.27 MB

The eighteenth century equivalent of the cruiser, the frigate was used for a wide variety of roles from fleet reconnaissance to patrolling sea lanes. Built in 1793, Diana was a typical British frigate of the period, whose long and active career spanned virtually all of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. In 1815 she was sold to the Dutch navy, which she continued to serve until destroyed by an accidental fire in 1839. First published in 1987, this popular volume includes a new large-scale plan of the ship on the reverse of the extended fold-out jacket and over 100 perspective and three-dimensional drawings accompanied by in-depth descriptive keys and photos. Both accurate and impressively detailed, this volume is an essential reference for age of sail enthusiasts and modelers alike. 24 photographs. 300 line drawings.101/2 x 91/2 inches.

HMS Trincomalee belonged to a class of 38-gun Fifth Rates which can claim to have been the Royal navy's standard frigate type for the whole of the Napoleonic Wars. Built in India of teak, she is now beautifully restored at Hartlepool, and can justly claim to be the last of Nelson's frigates.

The Real Diana

Lady Collin Campbell "The Real Diana"
Arcadia Books | English | April 1, 2007 | ISBN: 1905147066 | 336 pages | azw, epub, lrf, mobi | 3,32 mb

Say what you will about the author of The Real Diana, but Lady Colin Campbell certainly is no practitioner of noblesse oblige. This is a book for those who like their gossip explicit and in large quantities, and who aren't bothered by little details like verifiable attribution. (The vast majority of quotes in this book are from "a member of the Wales household," "a lady-in-waiting," "a courtier," and most ironically of all, "a friend.")

All of us want to be happy and live well. Sometimes intense emotions affect our happiness―and, in turn, our moral lives. Our emotions can have a significant impact on our perceptions of reality, the choices we make, and the ways in which we interact with others. Can we, as moral agents, have an effect on our emotions? Do we have any choice when it comes to our emotions?
