"The idea was simply to make an ambient album", Dr Alex Paterson has said of The Orb's new album entitled Chill Out, World!. With partner in crime Thomas Fehlmann, the duo resisted looking back and studying their earlier (seminal) recordings and opted for a more spontaneous approach: a focus on where they are at today in 2016. COW is said to have been completed over the course of five sessions in only six months, between a relentless touring schedule which they also credit as being hugely influential on the album's sound. As always, strap yourself in for an immersive sound experience and possibly expect to hear some of the more courageous DJs dropping likes likes of "4am Exhale (Chill Out, World!)" or perhaps "Just Because I Really Really Luv Ya". Oh and the track titles are as baffling as ever too.

The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld is the 1991 debut album by British electronic music group The Orb. There were two versions of this album originally released: a single disc and a double disc and this is the double CD version (there was also a 3CD Deluxe Edition.) This album featured the surprise hit "Little Flurry Clouds".

Absurd title aside, Okie Dokie marks the Orb's absolute absorption into Cologne's Kompakt label, following a series of 12" releases and compilation appearances dating back to late 2002. The principal factor is Thomas Fehlmann, a longtime associate and Kompakt elder statesman whose presence is felt on every track, consequently inhibiting Alex Paterson's whimsical impulses. There are no incongruous vocal appearances, silly spoken bits, or lumbering dubwise squibs.

While this disc is credited to The Orb, it is actually a various artists compilation put together by Dr. Alex Paterson of The Orb. It is a nice blend of electronica mixed in with soul and pop.

A decade after they delivered Okie Dokie It's the Orb on Kompakt on…Kompakt, Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann return to the stalwart Cologne label with an album bearing a less sportive title and it sounds like serious sci-fi business. The standard edition consists of four tracks, each one between nine and 15 minutes in length. Not one of them is humorously titled "Captain Korma" or "Komplikation," unless "God's Mirrorball" triggers a recollection of the first Tad album. Unlike Okie Dokie, this is all new, not an amalgamation of tweaked, previously released tracks and new material. Lest this be seen as the Orb's "most mature work to date," within seconds of the opener, a mild-mannered voice from a colorful documentary about Sumerian gods intones, "If you believe in evil, then you probably need a whack on the back of the neck with a big fucking stick." After four-and-a-half minutes of ambience that intensifies in gradual fashion, a fluid, sturdy beat and light chime-like accents enter to set the tone for the remainder of the 50-minute program.

Reunited for the first time since 2005's Okie Dokie It's The Orb On Kompakt, Alex Patterson and Thomas Fehlmann have set about recording brand new material for this third Orbsessions installment (the last two of which have been composites of older fragments of material hauled out of the vaults). As you'd want from a new Orb release, the album is a dense flow of ambient sounds, vividly rendered by these two most seasoned of producers in the field, but there's an unexpected disco-styled twist to the record that takes hold of tracks such as 'Super Soakers' and 'Suburban Smog' that really nails the zeitgeist for ethereal dancefloor sounds and heavily layered psychedelic loops.

A second set of previously unreleased material from The Orb camp, taking in a varied set of contributions from Paterson, Fehlmann, Roedelius and co. As with the previous Orbsessions collection, the packaging is impressively elaborate, which is only fitting for such lavishly produced electronic music. There's certainly nothing minimal about this material, opener 'D.A.D.O.E.S.?' is positively bristling with expansive, airy sonic texture and depth-charge bass plunges, serving as a nine-minute appetizer for the feast to come.

This is the glorious first volume of previously unreleased Orb treasures from Alex Paterson’s spherical archives, covering the first fifteen years of conspiracy and collaboration with some of the biggest names in electronic music including James Cauty, Andy Hughes, Thomas Fehlmann, Nina Walsh, Fil le Gonidec, Vincent Mcdonald, Guy Pratt, Dom Beken, Aki Mori and John Roome. This is the original version all beautifully packaged in the usual malicious stylee with holographic printing, bright and colourful inserts and unavailable anywhere else.

Genre: Dub, Downtempo, Ambient, Experimental | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Deviant Records (DVNT12CD)

A double-disc compilation of over two and a half hours of remixes, Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond the Call of Duty, Pt. 1 includes Orb reworkings of well-known bands (Primal Scream, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Killing Joke) and more obscure acts (Keiichi Suzuki, Love Kittens). Several mixes sound a bit dated, and the scattershot quality of the set can distract listeners, but the inclusion of several epiphanous moments (Material's "Praying Mantra," Primal Scream's "Higher Than the Sun," and Sun Electric's "O'Locco") makes the album worthwhile for fans.
