Folk-soul chanteuse Ayo is a Nigerian-German singer-songwriter. She uses the Yoruba translation Ayọ or Ayo. of her first name Joy. "Ticket To The World" is her fourth studio album. It was released on 7 October 2013. The album was produced by Jay Newland, who was also the producer of her first two albums, with musicians like Larry Campbell, Ira Coleman, Charles Haynes, Youssoupha and Clarence Greenwood (Citizen Cope), George Brenner (composer) and Glenn Patscha and Sherrod Barnes (ensemble).
Billie-Eve is Ayo’s third studio album. This one sounds like pages from a young woman’s deeply intimate diary; someone who has strong beliefs and is being tested by a trough of hard-ass unproductive relationships and social conditions. She manages to moan about heart hurt without sounding maudlin or pitiful, perhaps because in the midst of a sea of troubles she secures islands of defiance and resistance.
Tradition and innovation provide the interlocking roots of bluegrass and its descendants, a lively dance of elements skipping comfortably from ancient jigs to radio ditties to spacious experimentation. THE INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS joyously embody and carry forward the spirit of Bill Monroe, John Hartford, Earl Scruggs, David Bromberg and other originators in their skilled embrace of this music’s twin gravitational pulls, moving dexterously between homespun legacy and creative expansion, a band firmly grounded in what has come before as they grow strong into tomorrow.
