Practical Techniques in Flap Surgery

Practical Techniques in Flap Surgery by Yuichi Hirase

This book was written for orthopedic and plastic surgeons who wish to learn about reconstructive surgery of the extremities and trunk. For reconstructions of the extremities and trunk, surgeons need information on both orthopedic and plastic surgery. However, orthopedic surgeons are generally not familiar with the reconstruction of soft tissue, and plastic surgeons have little experience with osseo-tendinous system reconstructions. For those reasons, there is a definite need for a book detailing both fields of surgery.

What is unique about this book is its focus on artistry. Before now, very little has been written on the artistic aspects of breast reconstruction. What this book provides—possibly for the first time—is some basic principles for transferring, shaping, and revising a TRAM (or other autologous tissue flap) so that it really looks like a breast that matches its opposite counterpart.

German digital collective Polynoid is back with this quick and darkly comic look at what might happen when you mess with the wrong uh, skeleton/bird/tree creature.
What started out as a protest against the rather strange selection of short films some festivals have, soon turned out to become a small but detailed vision of what can happen if you mess around with the wrong guys.
Given, the only guideline we had was an obscure storyboard and the idea of creating a strange but highly detailed world in which two birds take a dump on someone’s head.
