Return to Forever Live (and Return to Forever Live: The Complete Concert) is the final album by fusion band Return to Forever. It was recorded live at the Palladium in New York City on May 20 and 21 1977 as part of the Musicmagic tour to support the album of the same name. This was the only tour to feature the Musicmagic lineup, which included original members Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, and Joe Farrell, along with newly added member Gayle Moran on piano and a six-piece horn section.
After a 25 year long break they are finally back on stage Return To Forever in their original line up: The jazz rock pioneers around the keyboard player Chick Corea made a big tour from May ‘til August through the USA and Europe. With this band pianist Chick Corea entered the terrain of the electric jazz that he explored whilst playing with Miles Davis. In 1972 the first latin influenced album was released by the band, only after that Corea transferred the name to the quartet, that sounded at the beginning like a progressive rock band, but later became a milestone in the fusion era.
Return To Forever are one of the most innovative and successful jazz/rock fusion bands. Originally formed in the early seventies, they had reunions in 1983 and 2008 before the current line-up got together in 2010 with the arrival of new members Jean-Luc Ponty and Frank Gambale. This set contains a double live CD recorded in 2011 plus a bonus DVD containing the Inside The Music feature which combines live footage with the band discussing the tracks performed on the CD.
