Beat Dis is the 1988 hit single by Bomb The Bass, a group where the centerpiece is Tim Simenon. This is similar to M|A|R|R|S' "Pump Up The Volume" where the core of the song is nothing but samples mixed together in a megamix fashion to create a solid dance track. The success of this song would lead to Bomb The Bass recording a full album but this focuses on the song. The CD5 from West Germany features four different mixes of the hit.

Winds of Change opened the psychedelic era in the history of Eric Burdon & the Animals -- although Burdon's drug experiences had taken a great leap forward months earlier with his first acid trip, and he and the group had generated some startlingly fresh-sounding singles in the intervening time, it was Winds of Change that plunged the group headfirst into the new music. The record was more or less divided into two distinctly different sides, the first more conceptual and ambitious psychedelic mood pieces and the second comprised of more conventionally structured songs, although even these were hard, mostly bluesy and blues-based rock, their jumping-off point closer to Jimi Hendrix than Sonny Boy Williamson.

Also in 2013, Legg added drummer Nick Sandler and keyboardist/vocalist Mereki Beach, transforming Goldroom into a live three-member ensemble.

West Coast guitar skills were hugely influential in the development of blues- and rock-guitar. The popular dictum was that T-Bone Walker was the sole source of inspiration but the men that succeeded him, including Pete 'Guitar' Lewis, Jimmy Nolen and Robert Kelton, created a leaner, meaner blues-based style that had a wider appeal. Like Walker, Gene Phillips straddled the line between jazz and blues, as well as being a gifted lap-steel player. In fact, the only man to closely emulate Walker was Pee Wee Crayton. Beyond all speculation is one fact: those West Coast artists produced a fine body of work, which has been insufficiently acknowledged or celebrated. Listen. This is a group of artists dead-set on entertaining - and on demonstrating their considerable artistry.

In the early 1960s, African American music styles were still hugely diverse, and several regions had their own distinctive style. The West Coast was generally quite pop-oriented, yet the magnificent Bobby Taylor and Alexander Patton prove that there were plenty of deep, soulful singers located in California. Here's another full-tilt collection of the very best that the busiest LA studios had to offer in the early-mid sixties. Quality music from 50 years ago that still moves the feet and the heart.

West, Bruce & Laing were a blues rock power trio super-group formed in 1972 by Leslie West (guitar and vocals; formerly of Mountain), Jack Bruce (bass, harp, keyboards and vocals; ex-Cream) and Corky Laing (drums and vocals; ex-Mountain). The band released two studio albums, Why Dontcha (1972) and Whatever Turns You On (1973), during their active tenure. Their disbanding was officially announced in early 1974 prior to the release of their third and last album, Live 'n' Kickin'…

Pianist Monty Alexander had a reunion tour with his former sidemen, bassist John Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton, in 1983. The resulting CD was recorded live in a West German club. Alexander is the main soloist (as expected) but Clayton has several memorable spots where he utilizes his bow, particularly on Charlie Chaplin's "Smile." Other highlights of this excellent straight-ahead release include "Two Bass Hit," Clayton's '"Blues for Stephanie," and "Love You Madly." Recommended.
