"Footsteps 2" is the second part of Chris de Burgh's album "Footsteps" that was released in 2008. As in the previous work, de Burgh performs cover versions and new songs composed by him. In this case, the Argentine-Irish singer songwriter plays 14 songs, such as two Beatles` classic hits, "Let it Be" and "Lady Madonna"; Steve Winwood's "While You See A Chance": "S.O.S", originally recorded by "ABBA"; "The Living Years", by "Mike and The Mechanics", and "In the Ghetto", a ballad that became a classic when it was performed by Elvis Presley; plus two bonus tracks on CD: Bob Dylan's "Catch the Wind" and Cat Stevens' "Moonshadow"…

Footsteps is the 17th studio album from Ireland-based singer/songwriter Chris de Burgh. De Burgh handpicked 13 songs that have influenced him throughout his career, as well as two songs especially written for the album. Recording live in just eight days, de Burgh tackled classics by great songwriters, including Lennon and McCartney, Bob Dylan, and Pete Seeger.

As de Burgh said upon releasing Footsteps, “Listening to the great songwriters was the inspiration for me to try and become a good songwriter myself,” he says. “I’m talking about the likes of Lennon & McCartney and Bob Dylan; people as good as that just don’t seem to exist any more. I learned my trade, my craft, almost at the feet of the Great Masters. And that is my musical journey. Those songs are my footsteps.”

Something that always seems to draw the ire of rock fans is when a veteran artist decides to suddenly change his sound to fit with current trends in hopes of winning over a new set of fans. This certainly isn't the case with Chris de Burgh's 2004 release, The Road to Freedom. Continuing with the same stately and pristine sounds that resulted in a flirtation with the U.S. Top 40 during the mid-'80s ("The Lady in Red," etc.), Freedom could have easily been released in 1984 rather than 2004.

Best Moves brings together the strongest singles from Chris de Burgh's first five albums, making for a short but pleasant collection of early material. Not all the tracks are ballads though, and the album is greatly benefited by the eerie "Spanish Train" and the whimsical air of "Patricia the Stripper." A live version of "Broken Wings" appears here as well, with its album version coming from 1977's At the End of a Perfect Day.

Once again combining softened elegance with his gentlemanly approach to the simple love song, Chris de Burgh remains true to form on Quiet Revolution with polished ballads and morning-friendly, mid-tempo material. de Burgh's style hasn't strayed since "The Lady in Red" peaked at number three in 1987, and from that point on he has tried to emulate the same success with his romantic formula of ballroom-type love songs and delicate lyrics. Although Quiet Revolution offers up a handful of these, some of the other tracks exhibit punchy melodies that still display de Burgh's heartfelt voice…

Into the Light contains Chris de Burgh's highest-charting single with the ballroom elegance of "Lady in Red," peaking at number three in 1987 and remaining on the Billboard charts for 14 weeks. This song, with its sweeping romantic tempo and classy feel, is reminiscent of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" as de Burgh's sincere flattery for his lover is exquisitely sung. Even his voice seems more pronounced, as it resonates and then lowers into a softer tone. Besides the hit single, much of the album remains lush and mellow in the style of de Burgh's usual ballads. On songs like "Last Night" and "Spirit of Man," his seriousness and honesty break through to showcase his passion for his work…

The title track to 1979's Crusader is not only this album's crowning glory, but also serves as one of de Burgh's finest songs. Its narrative is based on the courageous efforts of Richard the Lion-Hearted and his spirited battle against Saladin, the king of the Saracens during the crusades that took part between the 11th and 13th centuries. Broken into four separate parts, its detailed story line and moving musical passages exemplify de Burgh's talent as an intriguing anecdotist. His seriousness and passion build the song until the very end of the "Finale," in which the moral of "Crusader" is revealed through his soft-spoken final words…
