Heartworn Highways is the sonic companion to the classic 1981 documentary of the same name. David Gorman goes out of his way to tell listeners/purchasers that this disc is not the soundtrack to the film because there never was one. HackTone "had to go back to the original film elements and Nagra tapes with the film's editor and producer to create one," according to Gorman. They "spent months working between them and an audio restoration engineer in New York to make a stand-alone album out of audio that works perfectly well while watching the film but would sound horribly disjointed otherwise.

That the sturdy blues/rock/Americana sound of London area band Roadhouse travels has been evidenced time and time again by the international airplay that the ensemble garners with each successive album release. Thus far this new set seems to be gathering traditional attention and then some.

Sonic Highways is the eighth studio album by the American rock band Foo Fighters. It was produced by Butch Vig and was released on November 10, 2014, on RCA Records. In writing the album's eight songs, singer and guitarist Dave Grohl traveled to eight cities across the United States to conduct interviews with musicians, recording engineers, record producers, and other individuals discussing each city's musical history, which he used as inspiration for the songs' lyrics. The band and Vig then traveled to a different recording location in each city to record the songs. Each track features contributions from one or more musicians with ties to that city's musical history. The process was filmed for a companion television series, Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, which was broadcast on HBO in the months surrounding the album's release.

Nederland’s Todd Adelman has some serious connections. On his new LP Highways and Lowways the singer/songwriter, guitarist, pianist and harmonica player has a list of musicians that is truly staggering. It’s no surprise then, that the album recorded at The Mountain House, Adelman’s studio in Nederland, is rich, deep and polished. From the wailing guitar and country beat of the opener “Cold Mississippi Blues,” which sounds like a lost Robert Earle Keen track, to the subdued ballad of “Ghost Train” to the thick, funky, baritone saxophone on “Oh Marie,” and gorgeous story of “Wabash Avenue,” Highways and Lowways winds like a country road through fields of Americana, pastures of roots rock and hillsides of outlaw country.

Mexican music was one of Delgado's best. More than 50% of his big band was "brassy". Rich Mexican "mariachi" sound. Enjoy an LP that remains fresh and delightful though recorded almost half a century ago.

Strange Highways is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Dio. It's also their first album since Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice's reunion tour with Black Sabbath. After the short lived Dehumanizer reunion with Black Sabbath, Dio and Appice returned to Dio's solo group. Due to Dio's hard feelings toward Craig Goldy at the time, he hired Tracy Grijalva as his guitarist.

Country Rock

One Flew South is almost disarmingly old-fashioned: not old-timey, or even a throwback to classic country, but rather a revival of the harmony-heavy, mellow country-rock of the '70s. All through their 2008 debut, Last of the Good Guys, the trio of Royal Reed, Chris Roberts, and Eddie Bush harmonize like the sons of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Poco, and the Eagles, so it shouldn't come as a great surprise that this sound caught the ear of J.D. Souther, running mate and songwriter for the Eagles…
