Ken Park focuses on several teenagers and their tormented home lives. Shawn seems to be the most conventional. Tate is brimming with psychotic rage; Claude is habitually harassed by his brutish father and coddled, rather uncomfortably, by his enormously pregnant mother. Peaches looks after her devoutly religious father, but yearns for freedom. They're all rather tight, or so they claim. But they spend precious little time together and none of them seems to know much about one another's family lives. This bizarre dichotomy underscores their alienation # the result of suburban ennui, a teenager's inherent sense of melodrama, and the disturbing nature of their home environments.

One of England's gems, recording this music since 1970s in the tradition of the Berlin School. Martin has received the torch of inspiration directly from European electronic masters and is running with it. We begin with the title track and straight off one person comes to mind- Klaus Schulze from his 'Mirage' period. A high register crystalline tinkling sequence sparkles and slowly mutates from one similar pattern to the next over lovely soft cosmic drones. More melodic pads are layered over the top from time to time acting like slow lead lines. In the eleventh minute the sequence fades completely away and we are left in a wonderful state of atmospheric drift, the sounds chosen being exquisite…

Gorky Park is famous for its kitsch use of western stereotypes of Russians, such as pseudo-traditional clothing, balalaika-like guitar design and the hammer and sickle as their logo. It was the first Russian band to be aired on MTV.
