This is a fundamental drawing course designed specifically for children's book illustrators. In this video and PDF manual/workbook you will be shown how to use the "bean" shape to create 3 dimensional figures. The object of this class is to help you learn how to begin drawing a figure from any angle, attach limbs and head, and pose your character in any direction and from any angle. This is extremely helpful when creating comp sketches for dummy books and final sketches with your characters. Learning how to deviate from your reference to get the camera angle you want for the perspective you want is invaluable in the creation of original children's book illustration.
In this course, Jake Parker demonstrates how to light an object, how shadows work, and how to apply these principles to complex forms. Will Terry demonstrates and explains key aspects of color theory as it relates to art. How to effectively apply light and shadow to objects is essential knowledge every artist needs to know. Learning how to use color is essential for painters, illustrators, photographers, and anyone who wants to convey ideas visually.
A Guided Tour Through The Creative Process Problem solving is a critical skill in art. The creative process is replete with unpredictable twists and turns, and it is often difficult to reverse engineer an artist’s process when you only get to see the finished work. In this class, Marco takes you by the hand and guides you, from start to finish, through his process of painting an improvised, yet cohesive fantasy environment. Along the way he talks in depth about how the foundations of art serve as touchstones upon which to build, and how to tune your mindset to the task of discovering a new idea. Marco also takes an aside to demonstrate his Photoshop brushes as well as his methods of using them to mimic the look and feel of traditional media.
