Showcasing the top Trek writers in print, TV, and comics as IDW beings their second year under Starfleet command. This month, Star Trek legend Dorothy "D.C." Fontana takes the stage for her first-ever Star Trek comic book series. The writer from the original TV series, as well as The Animated Series, The Next Generation, and Deep Space Nine, is joined by partner Derek Chester (Star Trek: Legacy) for The Enterprise Experiment, an all-new series set in the unexplored fourth year of the U.S.S. Enterprise's legendary five-year mission. A sequel to the classic episode "The Enterprise Incident"–originally written by Fontana herself–where Kirk and Spock found themselves trapped on an Enterprise out of phase with space itself and facing a plot of revenge from Romulans!

The 2009 hit film Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams, was essentially a re-start of the original five-year mission, for which IDW Publishing laid the groundwork for the story in the four-issue prequel comics series, (the complete miniseries is also posted here on Avax by bigsid--just search for it). Written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, and based on a story by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, introduced the character Nero and also spanned the gap between and the Enterprise’s earliest voyages in Star Trek. One of the biggest questions fans have about the Star Trek movie is "What was Nero doing for 25 years?" because the time between the attack on the USS Kelvin and the arrival of Spock and the Jellyfish is left blank. Well, will fill in that gap, with the same creative team behind . It is considered part of the ongoing rebirth of the Star Trek franchise for which IDW Publishing is playing an active part. The final issue #4 released November 25, 2009 contains the climactic confrontation between Nero and the elder Spock-leading up to the cataclysmic destruction of Vulcan.

La-La Land Records, Sony Music Entertainment and Paramount Pictures boldly go where no soundtrack reissue has gone before with this deluxe 3-CD set of 1979's STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. The first big screen voyage of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock was a high budget and ambitious undertaking that introduced Goldsmith's famous and enduring Star Trek march (later used as the main theme for Star Trek: The Next Generation) as the cornerstone of an epic science fiction musical odyssey. This 3-CD set presents the score for the 1979 theatrical release (filling disc 1 and part of disc 2) and also premieres the legendary early "rejected" cues that Goldsmith recorded prior to composing his famous main theme. The 1979 album program (much of which is performed and edited differently as compared to the film) completes disc 2, with disc 3 offering additional alternates (including those heard on the previous Sony expanded release) along with a wealth of bonus material.

TURKISH STAR TREK "re-imagines" three episodes of the original STAR TREK series ("Man Trap," "Amok Time," "Tomorrow Is Yesterday") while adding a subplot about a time-traveling comedian. It was the first full-length TREK movie ever produced in the world. To this day, it is also the best.
