Two CD edition of the Classic Rock/Soft Rock band's Essential collection containing 18 more tracks than the U.S. single disc pressing. Even in the '70s, a group made up of L.A. studio musicians was frowned upon by the music industry, but someone forgot to tell the public, who fell in love with the band's slick, AOR Pop and Toto sold millions of records over the next few decades. This double disc set features 32 tracks including 'Hold The Line', 'Africa', 'Rosanna', 'I'll Supply The Love' and many more.
The members of Toto celebrate their freedom from "corporate shackles and invisible slave owners" in their liner notes to this collection, copyrighted by Toto Recordings, Inc., even if it was released by CMC Records, which is owned by Capitol Records, which in turn is part of the major label EMI. The group's idea for expressing its newfound liberty is to record an album consisting of cover songs by their favorite artists, an unimpeachable list including the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Cream, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Elton John, Bob Marley, Steely Dan, the Temptations, and Stevie Wonder.
Toto have welcomed many different band members across their long career but in the early nineties they had a short period as a four-piece featuring Steve Lukather (guitar & lead vocals), David Paich (keyboards & vocals), Jeff Porcaro (drums & percussion) and Mike Porcaro (bass)…
2016 issue of previously unreleased live concert featuring the 4-piece lineup of Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, Mike Porcaro & David Paich. Includes 'Rosanna', 'Africa',' On The Run' & more.
Thomas and Alfred were born around the same time; a fire in the nursery had nurses scrambling to save the newborns. Because he felt that he deserved Alfred's good fortune at being born into a wealthy family, Thomas conceives the idea that he and Alfred were switched at birth, and he can't help seeing that his unhappiness should be Alfred's, from the loss of his sister to his inability to have a relationship with the woman Evelyne. So, as his life is ending, he formulates a plan of revenge against his bitter enemy, his lifetime adversary, the man who stole his existence.
Toto XIV is a realized vision three plus decades in the making exhibiting world-class musicianship, masterful arrangements, topical lyrical commentary, and melodies that the collective genius of Lukather, Paich, Porcaro, Williams and their assembled band-mates bring to life. TOTO XIV is the band’s first album of new material since 2006’s Falling In Between.
