Barock Project is the name of an Italian Progressive rock band, made of young but very experienced musicians. They are led by keyboardist virtuoso Luca Zabbini, who composed a concerto for piano and saxophone, a true sign of excellent musical abilities! Their project is described by themselves, "To spread the finest and perfect structure of classic music (Mainly baroque music) with a rock style, and a little bit of jazz harmony, all supported by a pop song structure".
"Misteriose Voci" ("Misteriosevoci"), published in the year 2007 on the Musea label, fits this sentence well. Here are eleven symphonic songs, with dominating keyboards but also fine guitar parts, without mentioning a powerful rhythm section and a good singer, expressive but not too much…

"Rebus" (2009) is the second full-length album by Barock Project. Those who like their prog to be eclectic and accessible at the same time will definitely find “Rebus” an enjoyable, rewarding listen. Barock Project indeed possess a lot of potential, and effectively manage to combine their uniquely Italian feel for melody with classic rock and prog influences. Another interesting find from the ever-exciting Italian prog scene.

Warhorse's self-titled debut was a progressive rock-heavy rock meld that was even less humorless than that of Deep Purple, let alone Black Sabbath, the band that they got compared to most frequently. There's a bit of art rock in the Hammond organ, and an operatic earnestness to Ashley Holt's lead vocals. Titles like "Vulture Blood," "Burning," "Ritual," "Solitude," and "Woman of the Devil" are indicative of the group's desire to set a menacing mood, although the songs don't really forcefully hit the mark for which they were probably targeted. A cover of an Easybeats song ("St. Louis"), of all things, is the only non-original. Angel Air's CD reissue adds bonus live versions of four of the album's songs, as well as a demo, "Miss Jane," of a tune that didn't appear on the original LP.

Barock Project is the name of an Italian Progressive rock band, made of young but very experienced musicians. They are led by keyboardist virtuoso Luca Zabbini, who composed a concerto for piano and saxophone, a true sign of excellent musical abilities ! Their project is described by themselves, "To spread the finest and perfect structure of classic music (Mainly baroque music) with a rock style, and a little bit of jazz harmony, all supported by a pop song structure". During the composition process for its third album, Barock Project took the time to have a drink in one of Berlin's most famous quarters, to discuss the ravages made by History to this city divided for so long. The result of this happened to be an opus aptly titled "Coffee In Neukölln" (2012). Musically speaking, the listener will find himself at home, even if the symphonic side seems to slightly overcome the usual rock structure.

Released on the heels of the stilted, static Cahoots, the double-album Rock of Ages occupies a curious yet important place in Band history. Recorded at a spectacular New Years Eve 1971 gig, the show and album were intended to be a farewell of sorts before the Band took an extended break in 1972, but it turned out to be a last hurrah in many different ways, closing the chapter on the first stage of their career, when they were among the biggest and most important rock & roll bands. That sense of importance had started to creep into their music, turning their studio albums after The Band into self-conscious affairs, and even the wildly acclaimed first two albums seemed to float out of time, existing in a sphere of their own and never having the kick of a rock & roll band.
