Hannah Blaylock first began to get recognition in the country music industry with her band, Edens Edge. Blaylock was the lead singer, with Cherrill Green playing mandolin, banjo, and guitar while Dean Berner played guitar and dobro. They achieved moderate success in 2011 and 2012 with their two singles "Amen" and "Too Good To Be True," and their follow up self titled debut album. Under Big Machine Records, they were a surprisingly country group, less country pop oriented than other trios like Lady Antebellum and The Band Perry. But in 2013, Blaylock decided she wanted to go on on her own. She is now a solo artist, and a fine one at that.

The award-winning singer, songwriter and social activist Queen Ifrica returns with her new studio album Climb. Her exacting lyrics and strong female voice have earned her the nick name “Fyah Muma.” Her new album speaks to a mother’s concerns for the family: communication, peace, justice, truth and love. The lyrical crusader calls for global change on the album and rallies comrades like Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley on the opening hip-hop tinged track ”Truvosation.” The album covers the subjects of police brutality in the black community and on the song Black Woman she implores young ladies to know their worth and not be swayed by objectifying trends in popular culture. This is message music from a veteran performer, livicated servant. Her sound is unmistakable and the lyrics stay with you. “These songs come to me as I am watching the world; I see myself as a social worker that uses music as my tool, because music is the greatest weapon to impact societal change, to help young people to understand themselves.” Ifrica says.

Queen. They made music that was so unique, there aren't really that many bands that have been brave enough to attempt cover versions of their songs. Few singers, after all, want to have their voice compared to Freddie Mercury's, few guitarists can negotiate the tightrope wire between dazzling technique and melodic playing as skillfully as Brian May.
While some bands are all about The Sound, and others are all about The Song, Queen excelled at both. Sumptuous productions, virtusoso performances and a willingness to go out on a limb meant that you were guaranteed to hear something you'd never heard before, while the songs got their finely honed hooks in you and refused to let go…

Jazz / Soul Jazz / Hammond B-3 Organ / Guitar / Drums

A great lost chapter in the career of organist Lonnie Smith — a session recorded in the 80s, but done with the simple straightforward soul jazz groove of earlier sides on Muse and Prestige ! Lonnie's working here in a loose and free trio format — with Melvin Sparks on guitar and the great Alvin Queen on drums — rolling out over longish tracks in an open-ended style that almost recalls more of the feel of Don Patterson's great organ trio sides than it does the heavier funk of Smith's early years. The recording quality is great — very faithful to the best tones of the Hammond.

The bulk of the pieces on the recording are inspired by the extraordinary visions of John, the writer of the Book of Revelation, describing the ravaging of the world through divine judgement; the battles between good and evil; and the world s eventual remaking as a new heaven and a new earth in which death and suffering are no more. The disc features three new commissions, by Phillip Cooke, Toby Young and Marco Galvani, who was a final-year student at Queen s at the time of recording.

The Indian Queen was one of Henry Purcell's final works and may in fact have been left unfinished at his death. Defining the state of the text is complicated by the fact that the work is a so-called semi-opera, a defunct form that mixed spoken dialogue, singing, and dance; the function of the surviving music isn't always totally clear. For those reasons, the work hasn't often been recorded. Many of the individual numbers are splendid examples of Purcell's style, with his sparkling ensemble dances and exuberantly rhythmic major-key tunes that seem to shake off dour minor introductory sections.
