This 1991 concert film was shot in the IMAX format and was originally presented on enormous IMAX screens, with outstanding visual and audio clarity. The dimensions may have been scaled down for this DVD release, but the show is still huge in energy and talent. Filmed during a European leg of the Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels tour, this production boasts 15 songs and an extraordinary stage set with inflatable floozies (for "Honky Tonk Woman") and wild dogs (rather cleverly for "Street Fighting Man").

This two-LP set is both a lot more and a bit less than what it seems. It is seven years' worth of mostly very high-charting – and all influential and important – songs, leaving out some singles in favor of well-known album tracks, and in the process, giving an overview not just of the Rolling Stones' hits but of their evolving image…

Pieced together from outtakes and much-labored-over songs, Sticky Fingers manages to have a loose, ramshackle ambience that belies both its origins and the dark undercurrents of the songs. It's a weary, drug-laden album – well over half the songs explicitly mention drug use, while the others merely allude to it – that never fades away, but it barely keeps afloat…

This 18-track compilation of previously released versions of Rolling Stones' nuggets is a little longer than earlier attempts at the same concept such as 1998's Cover You: A Tribute to the Rolling Stones (with which it shares four tunes) and 2005's skimpy 11-cut Wild Horses: A Rock and Roll Tribute to the Rolling Stones (only one duplicate from that), but it's not markedly better…

The first hits compilation of the Rolling Stones is still one of the most potent collections of singles that one can find. Listening to it in 1966 or today, one can understand how, almost prematurely for the 1960s – as most of the material here dates from 1964 or 1965 – the Stones set themselves up as the decade's most visible rock & roll rebels…

Cutty Sark Or Eat 'Em Alive is the 1973 bootleg album by The Rolling Stones. The songs are primarily taken from Don Kirchner's Rock Concert while Side 1 is pulled from the documentary film One By One, later retitled Sympathy For The Devil. Actual title is Cutty Shark Or Eat 'Em Alive but this pressing on the Trade Mark of Quality label magically removes the "h" in shark.
