Far and away the prettiest record Jethro Tull released at least since Thick as a Brick and a special treat for anyone with a fondness for the group's more folk-oriented material. Ian Anderson had moved to the countryside sometime earlier, and it showed in his choice of source material…

Jethro Tull ‎– Songs From The Wood
Vinyl | LP Cover (1:1) | FLAC + cue | 24bit/96kHz & 16bit/44kHz
Label: Chrysalis/CHR 1132 | Release: 1977 | Genre: Progressive-Folk

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
SONGS FROM THE WOOD, from 1977, is one of my favourite Jethro Tull discs, and represents a brilliant return to form, after the previous year's disappointing TOO OLD TO ROCK AND ROLL. Singer/songwriter Ian Anderson, in keeping with the recording's title, revels in his folkier side here, with terrific, spot-on accompaniment from his band (comprised of Martin Barre on guitar and lute, John Evans on keyboards, Barriemore Barlow on drums and percussion, and John Glascock on bass and backing vocals). Additional keyboards and "portative organ" are provided by frequent collaborator David Palmer, who eschews his polished orchestral arrangements this time out, to further reinforce the session's "rootsy" atmosphere.

Jethro Tull Songs from the Wood
1977 | Progessive Rock | MP3 CBR 320Kbps | 90 Mb

The earth-worshipping revelry of 1977's frisky Songs from the Wood was far removed from the heavyweight progressive rock of Jethro Tull's early years. Taking a leaf from the book of Steeleye Span, Songs from the Wood is bright and festive as it mines a rich, green seam of ancient British folklore for inspiration. By marrying the characters ("Jack in the Green") and traditions of the old religion's ritual calendar ("Ring Out Solstice Bells" was an unlikely Christmas hit) to their eccentricity and half-imagined interpretations of British traditional music, Tull came up with one of their albums. This collection unintentionally beseeches the concrete-jungle-dwelling set to retreat to the countryside. With tin-whistles, peppy acoustic guitar, medieval twists and turns, much May Day gaiety and debauchery, and even the odd touch of prog, Songs from the Wood still sounds bewitching in the 21st century. –Kevin Maidment

Еще один из моих любимейших альбомов. Очень лиричный и красивый. А от таких песен как Jack-In-The-Green, Velvet Green и Cup Of Wonder я до сих пор, как бы это сказать... да... О! бал-де-ю! :)

Joanne Shaw Taylor embodies all the elements of modern blues, even if she sings with a distinctively British accent. Given her extraordinary dexterity as a guitarist and well-developed vocal chops, Taylor was already a sensation on the blues festival circuit in both the U.S. and Great Britain. Songs From The Road embodies the life and soul Taylor and band put into their music. It has the deep contrast of vibrancy and tenderness that sums up her career to date. It is a performance to be proud of.

Songs From The Soda Fountain is a compilation CD Rhino Records put together for the Walgreen's chain of drug stores, thus it has the same care as other releases made by the Rhino company. It focuses on music from the 1950's and early 1960's, aimed at the period in the store's history where they expanded their business to many more cities across the nation of United States. Some of the first Walgreen's stores featured soda fountains, where customers could walk in and sit to enjoy a soft drink or milk shake beverage.
