The programme follows three people from the transgender community as they overcome personal challenges in the lead-up to the event and explores themes of gender and identity. With a mix of ages and backgrounds, including the steel industry, they challenge perceptions about trans people, but also about the modern society in which we live. Documentary about some of the youngest transgender people in Britain and the US as they and their families make life-changing decisions, beginning with two ordinary British families as they attempt to deal with the challenges of having a seven-year-old child who was born in the wrong gender. The parents are faced with difficult decisions, including whether to use `he' or `she' pronouns, and if they should let their children go to school with their new identity and risk bullying and judgement.
